Love is the sweetest poison of them all. It flows unbidden into the human system, takes control of heart and mind, seduces body and soul, whether it be under a scarlet moon along the river Arno, or in a lonely garden in a cobwebbed patch of the Caucasus. JA’s inaugural double bill comprised Oscar Wilde’s sensual and intense theatrical fragment, A FLORENTINE TRAGEDY, in which the universe shrinks into a room, and Anton Chekhov’s THE BEAR, where the clash between a widow and her creditor climaxes in a challenge to a romantic duel.
