2023: 14 Events, 5 Workshops
The first half of 2024 saw us involved in projects and performances in Austria, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic. In Lisbon, we hosted a workshop and – in partnership with the Museum of National History and Science – co-produced two plays. In September we headed off to Lithuania for a new edition of JáFest. We followed that up with a double bill at Teatro do Bairro in Lisbon and a new set of TiP Residencies for emerging artists. In the last quarter of the year, we will collaborate on a series of readings in the Epopeia Viva project and premiere the piece ‘Hamlet – Out of Joint’ in partnership with CDCE.

2023: 14 Events, 10 Workshops
2023, our biggest year yet, saw the inaugural edition of JáFest, our own extravaganza of onstage theatre, workshops, walking tours, our first-ever poetry film competition and an exhibition and panel discussion dedicated to four brave women journalists. JáFest in April 2023 was made possible by the support provided by the European Union through the Theatre in Palm platform. We had no sooner recovered from the festival than Suresh was back in the rehearsal room for Jean-Paul Sartre’s classic “No Exit”. We followed that up in October with a show from our TiP colleague Jean-Lorin Sterian and a show dedicated to Roma culture.

JÁ Staged Readings give actors and audience the opportunity to plunge into exciting scripts stripped to their central core – very few props, little costume, minimal set, just words and gestures. A chance too for directors to workshop a pet project, and for writers to see their plays free of the stress of an impending full production…
