The dancer Marta Almeida from Companhia de Dança Contemporânea de Évora (CDCE) represented Já at the ExploreZ Festival 2024 in the Netherlands with a solo dance performance entitled (Dis)Forma.

(Dis)Forma critically exposes the impact of our ongoing search for ‘the perfect image’. Dancer Marta Almeida focuses in particular on the stereotypes that we associate with the concept of aesthetics and beauty in the dance world. With this performance, Marta searches for answers to the question to what extent her perception of herself – her person, body and image – is realistic. Or is her self-image merely a consequence or reflection of the judgment others have of her? With (Dis)Forma she explores the concepts of body dysformia, perceptual distortion and perfectionism.
