POETRY FILM WORKSHOP

13 April 2023
 Cossoul, Lisboa

This two-part workshop with prize-winning British filmmaker Janet Lees introduced participants to the rapidly growing genre of poetry film.

In the first part of the workshop, the group looked at how to go about creating a poetry film, thinking about creative and practical considerations such as camera angles, lighting, editing and pacing.

They looked at examples of films, and undertook creative exercises to help generate poems, reflecting on the process of making a poetry film in the absence of a linear narrative.

The second part of the workshop involved viewing and giving feedback on work in progress submitted by the participants, bringing to life what was had been covered in part 1.

The workshop ended with the participants sharing what they had learned and on how the ‘PF sensibility’ could be incorporated into their own artistic processes.
