SET DESIGN WORKSHOP

This 2-day workshop with Miguel Sá Fernandes set out to give participants a basic understanding of stage design and the stage, in other words the physical space where they will “design” the story.

The participants started with a story (the text of Jean-Paul Sartre’s play “NO EXIT”) and learnt how to develop it into a three-dimensional picture. They were then led through the design of a ground-plan of the stage from sketches to a 3D model in  cardboard.

At the end of the workshop each student had to do a presentation of their design and an assessment was made of the particular qualities of each design.
