CASA FERNANDO PESSOA is a cultural centre in Lisbon based in the house that Pessoa lived in for the last 15 years of his life. Its permanent exhibition about his life and work spans three floors and includes a library section specializing in World Poetry.
Founded in 1885, Cossoul is involved in social integration through the arts – the visual arts, theatre, literature, music, cinema – fostering initiatives for all age groups. It hosts the independent publisher ‘Artefacto’, a bookshop, gallery, exhibition space and bar. It was at Cossoul’s annual REVERSO festival that JÁ debuted on the festival circuit in 2019.
Our very own Dan Cotterall and Tania Kumeda continue to pump juice into the cultural landscape with their cover2cover podcasts, a stack of delightful cultural vignettes about books, literature and film, that you can listen to on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts or by clicking this Buzzsprout link: www.buzzsprout.com/1132658
Created in 1999, the iconic LIVRARIA LER DEVAGAR introduced to Lisbon the concept of bookshops as meeting places and spaces for artistic expression. With books stacked to the rafters of its 14-metre high ceiling, it is one of Lisbon’s cultural landmarks.
The MUSEU NACIONAL DE HISTORIA NATURAL E DA CIENCIA is Portugal’s principal museum focusing on research, curation and archiving of the natural and cultural history of the world’s Portuguese speaking areas. Its rich collections span zoology, anthropology, geology and botany.
A key cog of the Arts & Culture wheel of the Lisbon City Council, the POLO CULTURAL GAIVOTAS is a centre for artistic creation aimed at both professional and emerging artists. It provides rehearsal rooms, as well as accommodation and workspaces for artistic residencies.
RED CROWN INVESTMENT is a Porto-based property investment company whose owner has a strong and enduring interest in literature and theatre.
PRISMA ESTUDIO is a non-profit association dedicated to research, creation and dissemination of the arts. Its mission is to support emerging artists from diverse creative backgrounds, helping them develop their practice and share their work.
Occupying a space where the printing press of the newspaper Diário Popular once stood, TEATRO DO BAIRRO sits bang in the middle of the cultural quartier of downtown Lisbon. Managed by Ar de Filmes, it hosts shows by theatre creators, as well as music, cinema and dance.
